  FIELD TRIP TO MIDDLETOWN, CA. 

NORTH BAY FIELD TRIP MEMBER

                CONTRA COSTA MINERAL & GEM SOCIETY 
 
This trip is open to all rock hounds who agree to abide by the AFMS Code of Ethics, the directions of the field trip leader and practice safe rock hounding.         


Call the field trip leader beforehand to sign up and for further information.

Remember to wear your name badge and sign in and out with the field trip leader.

A Consent and Assumption of Risk Waiver of Liability form must be signed upon arrival at meeting site.
  
FACULTY RATING SCALE:
 
Vehicle Access & Parking -  1 - 2  Vehicle access and parking to include bus’s, RV’s, handicap vehicles, handicap parking available.
 
Collection or View Site -  3 - 4   Flat ground, unpaved sections, handicap access with some help to site with, moderate difficulty.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE --  Meet at 10 am, in the parking lot behind Perry's Deli. We’ll be collecting in the St. Helena Creek bed. Bring lunch, or lunch at the Deli, in the afternoon. More collecting after lunch.
 
MEET--  The parking lot behind Perry's Deli, 21308 Calistoga, Ca.

DIRECTIONS TO SITE/CAMP--  S/R 29, Napa Hwy. 17 miles, North of Calistoga, Ca. 
                                                    ( Approx. 30 minutes). From the South on S/R 29, Perry's Deli is on the right, Approx. 1/2 Mi. Into Middletown.

VEHICLE REQ'S -- No special requirements.

CAMP/FACILITIES -- Dry camping in the parking lot behind the Deli. Grills okay. Sorry, no open campfires.

TOOLS --  Rock hammer, trowel, bucket / bag, walking stick.
SAFETY CONCERNS --  Uneven ground on dry creek bed. Slipping hazard on creek banks.
CLIMATE/WEATHER  --  Temperate

CLOTHING --  Layered clothing, rubber boots so you can retrieve rocks out of the stream bed. Or if you just want to splash around in the creek.

OTHER REMARKS  --  Scouts report lots of new material washing out of the river banks. Expect material on both the dry, and wet banks..
 
FEE --  No fee.
